PAIN AND SUFFERING PART 14

Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way (Matthew 2:12 NKJV).

THE GENESIS OF JEALOUSY AND MURDER (11)

King Herod had arranged with the Magi to bring him word about baby Jesus when they find him. However, through divine intervention, that arrangement was broken. God, who knows the evil intention of King Herod warned [them] in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way (Matthew 2:12). Here, we see that, the God of the Bible is a God of knowledge. He knows everything about any of us. He knows where we live, he knows our names, he knows our thoughts; and words we want to speak even before we say them.

This attribute of God sets him over and above the other gods of the nations. His knowledge of us and everything around us means that, we are under his sharp eyes each moment of our lives. This is echoed by the Psalmist when he said; You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely. 5 You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. 7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? 8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. 9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast (Psalm 139:1-10).

God’s knowledge about all his creation including all mankind helps us to enjoy his protection from our enemies. If God had not warned the Magi not to go back to King Herod, who knows what Herod might have planned against the Magi and baby Jesus? It is therefore of utmost importance that, we will always depend on God’s guidance in all we do and say.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL! MAY THE GOOD LORD BLESS OUR EFFORTS IN 2018.

As always, let’s continue to hold each other’s hand and pray for ourselves as the coming of Jesus draws closer. Do send this study to your contacts as well.
