The Disciples Revival Church, Healing and Deliverance Centre, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Charles B. Mantey and Rev. (Mrs.) Faustina Mantey celebrated its 25th anniversary on Sunday August, 23, 2015 at 30 Gordon Mackay Road in Toronto. The celebration began in earnest with an opening prayer by Deacon Sampson Oduro-Boadu. It was followed immediately with the praises and worship segment by the Disciple Revival Church (DCR) worship team. Deacon Derek Hazzard then took turn to welcome participants to the event.
After the reading of scriptures which was interspersed with gospel songs by the DCR choir, greetings and brief testimonies were given by Reverends Ken Raymer, Dr. Nana Danquah, Tom Quinn, Joseph Osei-Amoah, Eric Amoah, Dr. Emmanuel Asare -Kusi, Pastor Phillip Gai and Brother Olumide Olatoye. Special anniversary greetings were delivered by Hon. Judy Sgro, MP for York West on behalf of Hon. Justice Trudeau, Liberal Party of Canada leader and Hon. Mike Sullivan, MP for York South-Weston.
As part of the celebrations, four individuals who have supported the church for the past 25 years were recognized and awarded plaques. They were the late Rev. Jack Ozrd, late Mr. Artolino La Caprara, B & M Losier Realty Ltd. and Dr. Martin La-Kumi. The two deceased individuals were posthumously honored as their relatives received the awards on their behalf.
The Consul General of Ghana in Toronto, Mr. John Bosco Derry Kpebesani brought greetings from the Consulate and lauded the church on their silver jubilee celebration and how far they have reached. He also commended the church for the contributions the church has made to the community and expressed the view that the church will go far.
The sermon was delivered by Rev Lorrie Gibbons, the District Superintendent of Western Ontario District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC). Brother Seth Boateng then led the special offering segment as he performed some solo.
Professor Phillip Alalibo introduced the book written by Rev. Dr. Mantey titled “African Spirituality” due to be launched in late October, this year. Professor Alalibo's publishing company Shidaanikei Publishers Inc. published the book. Four copies of the book were given away to special recipients with Rev. Dr. Mantey as one of them.
Rev. Dr. Mantey in a brief speech talked about how the church was started from its humble beginning to the present and also how God made a miracle in the acquisition of its present premises. Thereafter, all the ministers led by Rev. Tom Quinn came forward and prayed over Rev. Dr. Mantey and his family.
After the closing prayer and benediction, the first part of the celebration came to a conclusion. The second part was a sumptuous dinner served at the Luna Ballroom as part of the silver jubilee celebration. A special cake was cut to commemorate the occasion. Other church leaders and members were also given awards for supporting the church in various ways for the past 25 years.
