Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy (Psalm 126:5 NLT).
The farming community has been the backbone of many countries’ economy. They help to alleviate food insecurity in our world. Through their efforts the world continues to be fed. Governments around the world do appreciate their contributions to the overall success of their societies.
Farmers who share their experiences make us know that, farming is one of the difficult vocations in the world. As difficult as it is, it also imparts life’s valuable lessons for those who work on the farm. Some of these experiences could be of help to others as they navigate through life. Here are the reasons why? 1. Life is about observation. 2. Life is about hard work. And 3. Life is about appreciating the goodness of God.
. LIFE IS ABOUT OBSERVATION
Farmers depend on the weather for their farms. They’re therefore adept to the various seasons in the world. Through observation, they’re able to know when to start preparing their land for planting. After planting, they continue to observe their crops; to ensure they grow freely from weeds and pests. This observation goes on till their crops are ready for harvest.
Similarly, in my view, observation plays an important role in our human existence. As we grow, it’s necessary for us to know what to do at every stage of our lives. For example, one of the reasons we encourage our children to go to school is, because, we want to give them proper foundation for their lives. Parents also know that at such tender ages, these children have what it takes to study – sharper brains, less worries about food, shelter and clothing
Through observations, parents are able to help steer their children towards their career paths. They’re able to see how their children are doing at school; as well as other areas of their lives. This applies to adults too. There’s the need for us to observe our own choices we’ve made and see whether they’re helping us or not. These observations enable each one of us to make the necessary adjustments in our relationships, careers, health and other areas of our lives.
LIFE IS ABOUT HARD WORK
As has been pointed out in the previous paragraph, farming is one of the hardest vocations in this world. Hard working farmers rise up early to go to their farms. They map up the work they’ll do in any given day. They work hard to ensure they reach their target for that day. As they sweat, their aim is that, their hard work will pay off during the harvest time. Farmers who’re focused and resilient always reap bumper harvest.
Almost everybody in life wants to be successful – having a good career, living in a big house, driving a nice car and having a fat bank account. Problem is, this good living lifestyle elude many people. Why? Not many people build a winning strategy into their psyche. This means, success in life, does not come on a silver platter. It’s been proven that, majority of people who are rich started poor.
What sets successful people apart from the rest of society is that, those who are successful have a winning strategy and stick with their plan. They fix their eyes on the day that, they’ll have their dreams come true. They work very, very hard often from dawn to late hours of the night. They try to overcome every impediment or hardship that may come to sidetrack them.
LIFE IS ABOUT APPRECIATING THE GOODNESS OF GOD
Harvest time is one of the most joyous times in the life of a farmer. A farmer rejoices to see his/her crops grow and ready for harvest. They are happy because, harvest time is a time of abundance. It’s also a time of making money. The joy of farmers is seeing their crops being enjoyed by others in their communities.
The work load during harvest is not as tedious as preparing the land and planting. As farmers harvest their crops, some of them do recount and appreciate the goodness of God. They acknowledge him as the One who have given them the strength to work. Not forgetting the good land, the right amount of rain and sunshine which have helped their farms to yield bumper harvest.
That’s what life is all about. Students who take their studies seriously rejoice during graduation. Business men and women who have worked so hard to grow their business, rejoice and relax when they’re on vacation. Parents who have put in much work in raising their children are just happy when they see them become successful in life.
The truth is that, hard work pays off. Hence the words of the Psalmist, Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy (Psalm 126:5 NLT). He went on further by saying; He who continually goes [a]forth weeping,
Bearing [b]seed for sowing,
Shall doubtless come again [c]with rejoicing,
Bringing his sheaves with him (Psalm 126:6 NKJV).
Saints, let’s continue to do what we are called to do by putting in our maximum efforts. For our God will undoubtedly reward us just as he rewards the farmers with bumper harvest.
